Day 8: Admist the flurries and snow, @sereeniee and I treked our way to the Christkindlmarket at the Daley Plaza. With the sacrifice of a couple frozen appendages, we experienced bright lights, intricate ornaments, and a hot McDonalds drink. And then I came home to shovel the sidewalk. Oh the joys! Happy snow, Chicagoans! #ADVENTures #vscocam

Day 7: Greetings from the Chicago Winter Renegade Craft Fair!!! This is my second time coming to the fair, my first was the summer! And everytime I get to see the creative works of local artists! Twas a fabulous time. Spend 2+ hours and probs a paycheck and more, but I’m just doin me. The artists were super nice and amazingly talented. I even met one from Champaign who designs hilarious and whimsical illustrations. Go check it out this weekend if you’re in Chicago. They have the fair twice a year, once in the summer and again in the winter. Its pretty rad, @renegadecraft. Get crafty! #ADVENTures #vscocam

Day 6: Right after my rotation I left to go to a little place in Andersonville to rendezvous with some conifers. They had a good variety of different Christmas trees and they made fabulous wreaths like the one above. Not only so, but I also decided that being in Andersonville means a trip to Metropolis, so I got a Dirty Chai Latte. And to top off the day, I found a Fleetwood Mac record for fifty cents and a Norman Rockwell’s America collection coffee table book for eighty cents at the thrift store. #ADVENTures #vscocam

Day 5: For those who do not know, every Thursday the Art Institute of Chicago is free to all Illinoians from 5-8pm. There is currently an exhibit entitled Art & Appetite that I wanted to check out. Its a collection of art pieces related to food, how fitting to my education. There were many still life oil on canvas paintings, some classic Andy Warhol, the infamous Hawknight painting, and a giant canvas fried egg installation. (Her?) I haven’t been back to the Art Institute in ages and there was no way you can only spend a short time there, multiple free Thursdays are needed to see everything. And of course, I could not leave without getting a pic with the good ol’ American Gothic. #ADVENTures #vscocam

Day 4: This morning, I decided to take a trip to the Zhou B. Art Center down the street in my neighborhood. I always drove past, but never found a good time to go in and check it out. I walked in and there was no one in sight, just original art pieces created by local artists exhibited and serene music being played. After about 15 minutes of being there, the maintenance guy introduced himself and asked if it was my first time there. After breifly conversing, he offered  to take me up to the floors to the artist studios and see their work. I took the offer and had the opportunity to roam the whole art center and look at some of the great pieces of work by really talented and creative artists creating from so many different mediums like jewlery, painting, mixed media, it was all so cool. Needless to say, I’m definitely going back. #ADVENTures

Day 3: So today’s ADVENTure was an attempt to overcome all social awkwardness and go catch a movie by myself. I decided on Frozen (which was amazingly adorable!!!) and it was a great success. I was originally going to post a picture of an empty theater, but as I was walked out, I came across something even more delightful! A group of carolers right outside of the theater & in costume!!! They perfomed my request of “Its the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” by Andy Williams & it was so great. #ADVENTures

Day 2: I absolutely adore children’s books. So today’s ADVENTure involved going to the local public library and choosing a few children’s books to read. I happened to choose two with no words and they were so delightful! Pictures are sometimes so much more fun than words. #ADVENTures

ADVENTures.

i know I haven’t been the most active on tumblr recently. life has gotten completely busy and crazy. however, the Lord has been ever-so giving and faithful. the reason why i am sharing is because i am doing this instagram series for the month.

a couple weeks ago, I came up with the idea of going on ADVENTures. instead of just popping chocolates out of a pre-made calendar, this year for the 24 days advent I would go on mini adventures to find great joy in the little things that God places in life. i hope to find enlightenment in God’s creations and the ideas He puts in my mind to be in harmony with His Spirit. i hope you enjoy my ADVENTures as much as I will!image

day 1: this past weekend, I went to Rockford, Illinois to visit a friend. we checked out the Heartwood Creations woodwork building (see past instagram post) and I purchased a lovely little wooden compass. to put it to good use, a dear friend & I headed to a forest preserve on the outskirts of Chicago at dusk to simply wander in neature.

please feel free to join on this exploration on instagram (http://instagram.com/michelle_li12) or follow me right here on tumblr or perhaps the both!
